SAY Basketball Camp with Central Church
During the week of July 11th 32 children enjoyed three days of Baskeball skills, coaching and fun with Coach Lyle from Central Church. Lyle and several volunteers put on this event for free for children in grades 3rd to 9th. At the end of the third day, children received a free basketball, t-shirt and invitation to receive an $80.00 gift card for Back to School shopping with The Salvation Army on Monday, August 15th. Coach Lyle challenged the young people to use their basketballs and bring them back to camp next summer. The person with the basketball that is the most worn from use will receive a special prize. This was the first time we offered the camp and it was a great success. One young man remarked "This is the best camp I've been to". Thank you again to Coach Lyle who came to us with the idea of a free camp and who coached the kids throughout the event. It was a wonderful to hear the laughter and the squeaks of the tennis shoes on the basketball court again.

The First Tee of South Dakota at Elmwood Golf Course improves the lives of young people by providing educational programs and learning environments that build character, instill life enchancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. The First Tee Life Skills experience enables participants to learn valuable lessons about the importance of maintaining a positive attitude; how to make decisions by thinking about the possible consequences and how to define and set goals from the golf course to everyday life. Participants learn about themselves and others through a range of experiences enhancing their golf skills as well as their fundamental values for life. As their opportunities on the golf course expand, so do the opportunities for their futures.
All participants receive yardage books & bag tags so their progress can be observed as they advance within The First Tee certification levels of PLAYer, Par, Birdie, Eagle and Ace.
