Charity Watch gives The Salvation Army Western Territory a grade of A-.  This explains their criteria:  Groups included on the Top-Rated list generally spend 75% or more of their budgets on programs, spend $25 or less to raise $100 in public support, do not hold excessive assets in reserve, and receive "open-book" status for disclosure of basic financial information and documents to CharityWatch.  For more information, you can visit their website at

Peter Drucker calls The Salvation Army "by far the most effective organization in the U.S. No one even comes close to it in respect to clarity of mission, ability to innovate, measurable results, dedication and putting money to maximum use."  Drucker also says "The Salvation Army when it comes to measuring results, has one of the highest performance rates at the lowest cost."
