Current Volunteer Opportunities at The Salvation Army
Sallies Table Feeding Program
Volunteers are needed to serve a meal every Saturday and Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. Every week hungry individuals, families, seniors and homeless persons come to The Salvation Army to partake of a meal and experience a time of fellowship with others. Each weekend over 400 meals are served to those in need.
Food Pantry Worker
A Volunteer is needed three days a week to assist with our Food Pantry. The potential tasks we seek assistance with are: Receive our monthly Feeding South Dakota Social Services and TEFAP orders and stock shelves with order, receive and stock shelves with donated food daily, prepare client food boxes, assist clients with food boxes between 1- 4 PM, maintain the social services cabinets, shelves, counter top, and freezer, record daily the food pantry room & freezer temperatures and prepare and place in reception area daily the cart of 'unusual' foods not included in food boxes.
Senior Food Commodity Distribution
The second Thursday of each month The Salvation Army distributes over 500 food boxes to seniors in the Sioux Falls area. These boxes of food help seniors stretch their meal planning. Close to 200 of the 500 boxes distributed each month are delivered to homes. Volunteers are needed to assist with the deliveries.
