Starting Monday, October 30th those needing a Thanksgiving Basket may call 211 to sign up. This year 211 will be handling all the sign up calls for The Salvation Army. Applications are only taken over the telephone by 211 staff. Please call 211 to make an application. If you know of a family or senior in need, please share this information with them. Baskets will be distributed on Friday, November 18th and Saturday, November 19th for those who've signed up. Distribution will take place at The Salvation Army-900 N. Cliff Avenue (just South of John Morrells).
We're also seeking donations of food items for our Thanksgiving Baskets. The following items are needed:
Food should be boxed or jarred. On some items, where specificied, we would like to include more than one per each basket.
Gift Certificate for a Turkey/Ham, Bisquick, Potatoes (boxed), Gravy, Canned or Powdered Milk, Stuffing Mix, Yams (2), Rice, Beans (3), Canned Vegetables (2) peas, carrots, etc., Cranberry Sauce, Olives or Pickles, Chicken Broth (3), Pumpkin Pie filling (sweetened) & Pie Crust (ready made) (1 each), Holiday Cookies and Aluminum Roasting Pans.
These staples would be nice to have included in each basket , one or more welcomed.
Flour, Sugar, Oatmeal, Peanut Butter & Jelly (grape or strawberry), Tuna, Cornmeal, Cake Mix and Frosting, Fruit Juices (boxed/jarred), Canned Fruit, Jello or Instant Pudding, Muffin Mix and Muffic Cups, Mayonaise, Ketchup, Mustard, Canned Tomatoes and Other.
