What is a Salvation Army Angel Tree

People in our community are struggling.  They've lost money, jobs and homes. Our families and friends may have fallen on hard times. Some who had little to begin with now have less and are working harder everyday to make it to tomorrow.

These same families who are struggling to meet the financial demands of day-to-day life, question how they might provide a gift or two for their children on Christmas Day.

Every child deserves to experience the joy of Christmas morning. And thanks to supporters of The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, thousands of local children will find this waiting under their Christmas trees this year.

How you can Help

The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program provides new gifts or toys for children of needy families through the support of donors. Found in local companies and corporations, Angel Trees are decorated with paper angel tags.  Contributors remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts.  They bring the gifts back to an Angel Tree location for distribution through The Salvation Army's Christmas Toy Shop.  They take the tag home and hang it on their own Christmas tree as a reminder of how they helped a local child enjoy a very Merry Christmas.

Angel Tree Toy Drop Off Locations for 2017

We will begin collecting toys starting Friday, November 10th and end on Friday, December 15th for our Salvation Army Toy Town distribution on Tuesday, December 20th and Wednesday, December 21st.  (Any gifts received after December 15th will be used for distribution at The Salvation Army on December 22nd to December 24th.)

At The Salvation Army we want to ensure every child in our community enjoys a very Merry Christmas.  This is only possible through our partnerships with local businesses and churches who sponsor a Salvation Army Angel Tree.  If you would like to find out more information about being an Angel Tree partner, please contact Marcie Priestley at 605-338-6649 ext. 317 or marcie_priestley@usc.salvationarmy.org.  If you're an existing site and would like to sign up for the 2016 season, please download the attached Angel Tree Site form from the drop down menu on the left side of this web page.
